Los Gatos is a serene Silicon Valley community nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains foothills. This picturesque small city features many tall trees and the sprawling 150-acre green space of Vasona Lake County Park. The Las Gatos Creek Trail runs through Downtown Los Gatos on its 9.7-mile route from Downtown San Jose to the Lexington Reservoir. Downtown Los Gatos is a popular area with truly exceptional restaurants and a variety of independent shops. Los Gatos offers a strong sense of community in an idyllic small-town environment close to everything in San Jose and Silicon Valley.
Founded in the 1850s, Los Gatos features many well-maintained Victorian properties built during this period. These historic homes share the city with early-20th century Craftsman homes, striking mid-century modern properties, and luxurious contemporary residences. Los Gatos is the home of Netflix and many other tech companies. The city offers access to several major highways—the West Valley Freeway (State Route 85) runs along Los Gatos’ northern boundary, and State Route 17 runs north to south through the length of the city, connecting Los Gatos to San Jose. The city consists of relaxed suburban neighborhoods and a charming historic downtown area. The majestic mountains surrounding Los Gatos are full of trails for hiking and mountain biking.

Downtown Los Gatos features beautiful historic buildings housing unique shops and some of California’s finest restaurants. Manresa is one of the most revered restaurants in the Bay Area. Chef David Kinch uses ingredients for some of the finest local growers to produce a dynamic farm-to-table tasting menu that changes every night. This exceptional eatery has earned the rare distinction of three Michelin stars for its sublime cooking and impeccable hospitality. Dio Deka is another upscale dining destination featured in the Michelin Guide. Dio Deka serves both traditional and contemporary takes on classic Greek dishes. Dio Deka’s perfectly-executed meals are paired with an incredible wine list spanning 1,500 varietals from Greece, Spain, Italy, and California. An impressive international selection of wines is also on offer at Cin-Cin. This globally inspired wine bar and restaurant serves small plates and light eats drawing on the diverse culinary traditions of Spain, Asia, and California. Forbes Mill Steakhouse serves mouthwatering finest quality steaks. Their menu includes certified USDA and Angus Beef Prime steaks alongside wagyu filets and ribeye steaks. Their world-class beef selection can be enjoyed with jumbo prawns, sea scallops, and Maine lobster tails. There are also around a dozen suburban-style shopping centers dotted around Los Gatos with a mix of local and national chain retailers.
Things to Do
There is a woodsy rural feel to many parts of Los Gatos, and the city offers access to lots of scenic outdoor space and trails. The Los Gatos Creek Trail is popular with hikers, joggers, and bicyclists. Vasona Lake County Park is a beautiful 152-acre green space surrounding a lake used by paddle and rowboats. There are also several fishing ponds in the connected Los Gatos Creek County Park. Both county parks are connected via the Los Gatos Creek Trail. Vasona Vibrations is a free summer concert series that brings nine weeks of diverse outdoor live music performances to Vasona Lake County Park every Saturday evening between June and July.
Los Gatos is served by the Los Gatos Union Elementary and Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High Public School Districts.
